Fosun Pharma Organized the 2015 Minister-level Seminar on Pharmaceutical Supervision and Management for Developing Countries



The 2015 Minister-level Seminar on Pharmaceutical Supervision and Management for Developing Countries was completed at Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd. (“Fosun Pharma”) on June 30. Officers from China Food and Drug Administration, Academy for International Business Officials of Ministry of Commerce People’s Republic of China, China Center for Food and Drug International Exchange, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Shanghai Municipal Food and Drug Administration and Fosun Pharma attended the closing ceremony and delivered speeches.

Approximately 20 minister-level officers from drug administrations of 7 developing countries, respectively Armenia, Cameroon, Czech, Nigeria, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, attended the seminar. They paid visits to Beijing and Shanghai for seminars which lasted for a week, sharing experience of drug supervision and management while discussing about international cooperation. Mr. Wu Zhen, Deputy Director General of China Food and Drug Administration, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that, with the rapid development of the integration of world economy, pharmaceutical R&D, production, circulation and usage chain  have already covered countries all over the world while drug safety has become a common issue globally. Developing countries currently need to integrate into the international grand circulation of drug life cycle, and to participate in international cooperation of drug supervision and management. Through enhancing communication as well as deepening sharing and cooperation, developing countries will improve supervision system and planning as well as supervision standards and technology levels. At a higher level, developing countries will conduct international cooperation to jointly safeguard the public’s rights and interests for taking drugs, and to fulfill the missions of drug administrations from countries all over the world.

Mr. Chen Qiyu, Chairman of Fosun Pharma, attended the closing ceremony of the seminar. He stated that Fosun Pharma always includes social responsibility into the overall strategy system of the enterprise, persisting on participating in public-welfare activities at home while at abroad, supporting anti-malaria campaigns in developing countries, particularly in countries of Africa, through innovative technology and industrial advantages under cooperation with Chinese governments. Since 2005, for enhancing the cooperation between China and developing countries in medical and healthcare field, further solidifying multilateral friendly relations, promoting the sustainable development of medical and healthcare system in countries all over the world, expanding and deepening the South-South Cooperation between China and other developing countries, as well as carrying out China’s diplomatic strategies including “One Belt and One Road”, Fosun Pharma has organized 13 training classes for foreign aid including “Workshop of Drug Supervision and Management for Developing Countries” and “Workshop of Anti-Malaria”, with 425 government officers from 77 countries having attended the workshops, exerting positive influence on pushing forward the development of the medical and healthcare industry of the world.

This is the first year for Fosun Pharma to organize the Minister-Level Seminar on Pharmaceutical Supervision and Management for Developing Countries. The seminar not only contributes to promoting mutual communication and learning among drug administrations from different countries as well as improving levels of pharmaceutical supervision and management, but also enhances the friendly cooperation between China and other developing countries, which has laid solid foundation for both parties’ further cooperation and communication in the future. Additionally, the successful host of the seminar reflects Fosun’s awareness of social responsibility as an outstanding Chinese enterprise, which helps to accelerate its internationalization.
